Brazilians may be best known for their soccer talent, but at UNCW, they're excelling at another game-tennis.
Sao Paolo native Caio Piacentini took home the title in the singles Gold Flight at the UNCW-Landfall Tennis Invitational. Piacentini topped UNC Chapel Hill's David Stone for the victory 2-6, 6-4, 10-8.
The team's top returning player also teamed up with Grant Holland for third place on the doubles side.
Fellow Brazilians Gustavo Bertei and Henrique Meloni cruised to an 8-2 victory for the Flight B doubles crown.
The women's squad got off to a hot start as well, as Lauren Isenhour and freshman Kayla Schwenk won the Women's Flight B Doubles title over the Tar Heels' Haines Harris and Lynzee Mabry.
The Seahawks' Cassie Martin teamed up with Virginia's Lindsey Perrieria to win the Flight A championship.
