Wilmington's spook-tackular events!

If you are planning on staying in town this year to celebrate Halloween, know that Wilmington is home to several annual spook-tacular events, including costume contests, haunted tours and fun festivals. Check out the events listed below to get started on this year's Halloween fun.

Ghost Walk of Old Wilmington:

Costumed guides lead you on a walking tour of haunted sites through old Wilmington.

When: 8:30 p.m. daily and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.
Cost: $12 adults; $10 seniors, students and military; free for children six and under.

Haunted Pub Crawl:

Tour some of Wilmington's most haunted pubs.

When: 7:30 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.
Cost: $15 per person; reservations required.

Halloween History-Mystery Tour:

Self-guided walking tour begins at the Bellamy Mansion and continues throughout historic downtown Wilmington. Costumed storytellers along the tour offer insights into Wilmington's rich and spooky past.

When: 4-8 p.m.
Where: Bellamy Mansion Museum, 503 Market St.

25th Annual Halloween Festival:

The Halloween Festival is a popular, spooky event for the brave and faint-hearted alike. Nighttime treats at the Halloween Festival include food, a palm reader, tarot card reader, rides, carnival games, non-scary kiddy funhouse, hayrides and the Saturday Night costume contest.

Where: Poplar Grove Historic Plantation, 10200 U.S. Hwy. 17 N., Wilmington
When: Opened 6 p.m. Friday Oct.13
Cost: $7 per person.

Wilmington ICE House Spooky Skate:

Early skate with free pizza and drinks, trick-or-treating, games, prizes, costume contest and haunted locker rooms.

Where: 7201 Ogden Business Lane
When: Halloween from 5-8 p.m.
Cost: $7 for advance purchase, $10 at the door

And as always, downtown Wilmington's nightlife is sure to deliver. Costumes will be parading the streets until 2 a.m. and even later at Slice of Life Pizzeria. Many clubs downtown are host to Halloween events, as well. Enjoy, and be safe!
