Team Teal enters third season

On game day it is not unusual to see people around campus wearing Team Teal t-shirts, but what exactly is Team Teal? Now in its third year, Team Teal is a fan rewards program administered by Seahawk sports marketing that gives away more than $200 worth in prizes to members just for attending home sporting events.
Becoming a member is free and easy. To register for Team Teal simply attend any home athletic event and fill out a simple form at the Team Teal table or log on to www.uncwteamteal.com and enter your basic information. Then make sure to have your membership card scanned at each home event you attend and you'll receive points toward a prize.
The more team spirit you show the greater the chances are of winning. For every ten events you help cheer the Seahawks to victory you'll receive a reward. With the attendance of 70 or more events you'll qualify for the grand prize drawing of a plasma television. Team Teal offers a wide range of prizes which includes T-shirts, a lunch at Two Guys Grill, a $500 Best Buy gift card and much more.
Each event you attend after 70 will give you an additional chance to win the grand prize. Team Teal was established to motivate students and community members alike to come out in support of all the Seahawk teams.
Senior participant of Team Teal Veronica Bailey agrees that this program is a gem of UNCW. "I really like that Team Teal is a program that encourages people to come out to the athletic events and then rewards them," she said. In addition to students, athletics department staff and family members are eligible for the program. "Team Teal really works to get everyone involved with Seahawk sports," Bailey said.
New this year for Team Teal are team MVPs. The member who attends the most events in each sport will be named the MVP of that particular sport. If there is a tie, then a drawing will determine the MVP. Also new in 2008 season is the "Fan of the Year." The member who attends the most overall events will receive a Dell laptop computer. This is certainly a gift that all college students could use.
