On Friday, the Sea Dawgs beat the Augusta Groove in Wilmington 110-109. On Sunday, the Dawgs were at their winning ways again, this time defeating Augusta on their home court 100-91.
"It was a team effort, offensively, defensively and just all around effort and energy," Coach Dale Kuhl said. "I am very proud of the way our guys came out and played today."
Joe King led Wilmington with 20 points, connecting on a season high six three-pointers in the game.
"My teammates are always telling me to keep shooting," King said. "But I am more glad that I could help in winning an important game for us."
Cedric McGinnis added 19 points, Jermaine Williams scored 18 and reigning PBL Player-of-the-Week Kris Clark chipped in with 17.
This is the second straight game that the Sea Dawgs have played without Alex Harper, who was second on the team in scoring before his injuries; he is still bothererd by back spasms and is currently day-to-day.
The Sea Dawgs led at the half by four points after holding a 10-point lead in the second quarter. Augusta made a run in the third quarter and took a six-point lead, but could not hold it. Wilmington regained control as they cruised to another victory against the Groove.
AJ Millien led Augusta with 22 points and seven rebounds. Donielle Davis was next with 20 points. This is the second straight game where Wilmington's defense has held AJ Millien well below his league scoring average.
This win puts the Sea Dawgs a half game back of Rochester for first place in the Eastern Conference.
