The BB&T bank across from campus took a festive step towards supporting UNCW. It has officially changed its color from the bank's traditional burgundy to teal.
BB&T City Executive for New Hanover County Phil Marion said that changing the color to the UNCW school color was "a way for us to show the deep relationship and connectivity to the university."
The bank has successfully changed a few of their branches' colors throughout the South including at Eastern Carolina University, the University of Virginia and Wofford College. By promoting the school colors of local universities, these branches were able to establish a strong relationship with the university students, as well as the surrounding community. The bank hopes to do the same in Wilmington.
"We want to reach out to new students, graduating seniors, staff and any other people associated with the university, including parents," Marion said.
"This is permanent signage that we plan to keep up for at least the next 10 years," said Will Frisbie, the senior vice president of corporate marketing at BB&T. "We want to foster an environment where students feel comfortable banking with us. By changing our colors to match the university's, we are visibly supporting the community, the school and the students."

It's East Carolina University, not Eastern.
