The band, consisting of four members (Seth and Scott Avett, Bob Crawford and Joe Kwon), has performed on the Late Show with David Letterman as well as Late Night with Conan O'Brian and the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. The band was named "the artist to watch of 2009" by Rolling Stone magazine, and their latest CD reached No. 16 on the Billboard 200 best-selling albums.
Their two previous CDs, "Emotionalism" and "The Second Gleam," both landed spots on the Billboard Top 200 albums. Songs from both of these CD' can be found on YouTube as well as iTunes.
Known especially for their live shows, the Avett Brothers provide energy unmatched by many artists out there today, further expanding their fan base with every show. The band has been on tour for the last few months promoting the "I and Love and You" album, selling out shows across the country.
While the new CD may seem to be taking the band in a new direction, with the prominent use of the piano instead of the banjo, most fans seem to be taking well to the new sound.
This may only be the beginning of things to come for the Avett Brothers, who seem to be doubling their fan base with every album.
