"Things that seemed so important before seem insignificant in the light of a new day. I wake up everyday thankful for the day and the treatment that is available for me today," said Glicker.

Women like Glicker are being diagnosed with breast cancer everyday at an increasing number. The American Cancer Society estimates 192,370 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in 2009 alone. Rock for the Cure helps provide some of the women that make up that number right here in Wilmington with the strength and resources they need to live with breast cancer.

"Cancer is a part of my life, but I won't allow it to take over my life," said Glicker. "Like my mother before me, cancer may have taken my breast, but it will not take my will or my heart. Cancer may weaken you at the onset, but it gives you a strength you never thought possible."

Other sponsors for the event included Set in Com/motion, Gravity Records, UNCW Alpha Gamma Delta, Sam Ash Music, Cape Fear Roller Girls, UNCW Chi Omega, UNCW Phi Mu, UNCW Lambda Pi Eta, Vending by Bain, Corporate Skirts, Pink Pilates, The Canizaro Family and Megan Gooch.
