While the SRC offers many opportunities to students there may be others, like off-campus student Meredith Walch, who has decided to go elsewhere in the Wilmington area despite talk of renovations.
"I switched to Planet Fitness because it is inconvenient for me to pay for parking at the Recreation Center when I already pay for it in student dues," Walch said.
According to Walch, she really enjoys the track and rock climbing wall at the SRC, but Planet Fitness has more equipment and costs $10 a month, compared to the $3 Walch would spend in parking with one trip to the Student Recreation Center.
To gain entry into the SRC all students must have their University ID card. Temporary ID cards are available through Auxiliary Services for ID holders who have lost or misplaced their IDs. Guests must pay $5 and come with someone who already has access to the SRC.
The Student Recreation Center hopes to help students, faculty and staff by improving their total fitness. This includes developing healthy lifestyle habits, improving sports and outdoor recreation skills, reducing stress and increasing one's energy level.
