Intramural flag football champions were crowned this past week during a tournament that capped off the end to UNCW's most active intramural sport. Seven on seven flag football had over 1,200 students participating on over 90 teams in five different leagues this year, which were record numbers in participation according to Zach Gilbert of UNCW intramurals.

The title game in the most competitive league, Mens Greek/Gold league, was a rematch of the springs four on four flag football championship game, pitting the fraternity Pi Kappa Phi against defending champions of seven on seven, Hard 2 Check. Pi Kappa Phi bested Hard 2 Check this past spring taking the four on four title, but Hard 2 Check would have none of that this season as they defended their seven on seven title successfully in a rout of Pi Kappa Phi, 40-0.

Pi Kappa Phi's quarterback went 14-26 throwing no touchdowns and two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown. On the other side of the field, Hard 2 Check's quarterback had a completely opposite outing going 16-19 with five touchdowns and zero interceptions.

The Greek/Gold league wasn't the only that crowned champions, as the women's league, co-rec teal, co-rec gold, and men's teal league all had their championship games as well. The Alpha Gamma Delta Rabid Squirrels won the women's league, as PFJ B and Hail Yeah Mary took the co-rec teal and gold league titles respectively. That left the Washing Machines as the men's teal league champions.

A special congratulation to all championship teams, as well as the other participating squads. If you wanted to play and missed this flag football season, be sure to sign up for four on four flag football in the spring.
